They say a four handed massage (yes, that’s exactly how it sounds, you’re massaged by four hands – that’s two therapists) is the ultimate pampering treat and boy, they’re not wrong.
The Club and Spa at Hoole Hall, located within the beautiful grounds of the Doubletree Hilton Hotel, in Chester which has just recently celebrated its second birthday, debuted their Four Hands Massage towards the end of 2011 and I was lucky enough to be invited down to try it.
Treatment rooms are on the first floor of the contemporary styled spa. After changing into a luxurious robe I was shown to the treatment room by both my therapists. My apologies, ladies, but I was so relaxed by the treatment I’ve forgotten your names!
They explained the treatment to me and left me to get settled on the treatment bed. I’d already chosen a soothing massage oil (the choice was between rebalancing, soothing, detoxing or firming) and back in the room the massage began. It was an experience like none I’ve had before.
At some points I could definitely feel four hands, at others it felt like a more intense two-handed massage. Both therapists worked on my back and shoulders, then each took a leg each. Turning me over, they then both worked the front of my legs (one each) before moving onto an arm each.

Finally one therapist gave me a relaxing foot massage as the other worked on my dcolletage and finished with a scalp massage.
Before I arrived I wondered if I would feel cheated by the experience – two therapists means you can get the massage done quicker surely – but this definitely wasn’t the case. The whole thing lasted around an hour and left me in complete bliss.
