Jade Holmes might officially be on maternity leave, but she is a busy lady.

Along with toddler Bella and baby Darcy, she also helps run family business JRT Plumbing and Heating in Yarmouth with her partner Jason Hodds.

“I tend to do the marketing but more often it is a little bit of everything. Jason was a plumber and heating engineer and was really interested in renewable energy, so he decided to start the business specialising in green technologies,” she says.

Like many mums, her bag is not only full of her essential items, but also those must-haves to keep the children happy – from wipes and nappies to snacks and toys.

“I really love my handbags, but then I had Bella and, to be honest, they got swapped for a changing bag. But I have just treated myself to a gorgeous new bag from Top Shop which I love. I don’t spend huge sums on bags and I think there is a great choice on the high street, but I like good quality leather as I think it lasts so well. What I am really aiming for though, is a Mulberry bag,” she laughs.

Finding Mr Bright, make-up set from Benefit, £28.50.

I love Benefit make-up and this little box contains lots of different bits perfect for touching up your skin. With all the sleepless nights, I always keep it in my bag to hide those bags under my eyes.

Kindle Paperwhite, £99.

I always carry my Kindle around for any spare minute I get to read. I’ve always been a big reader, my granddad worked at the library and I think that’s where I got my love of books. At first I was hesitant about getting one as I love the feel of a book, but now I am converted.

Ray-Ban Wayfarers, dark tortoiseshell, from £90.

My mum bought these in Florida for me. I love the design and style. It is classic and timeless. I wear contact lenses and my prescription glasses are also Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

Cath Kidston Rosali tissues

Tissues are a must as I get bad hay fever and my eyes water a lot. These are lovely Cath Kidston ones which were a present. I really love her designs, especially for the home and for the girls.

iPhone 4s, prices vary.

I might be on maternity leave, but when you are involved in a family business you never really switch off. This enables me to keep on top of emails and answer any queries if needed.

A little something else . . .

One Line a Day: A five-year memory book, £11.99, Waterstones

A friend bought me this when Darcy was born. You are supposed to write a line a day in it. I don’t keep on top of it enough but often add little bits and pieces. It is a particularly lovely keepsake because Darcy was born on New Year’s Eve so it starts on January 1.
