Four coastal trails in Cornwall have been named among the best walks for beginners in the UK, new research has said.

The Holywell beach walk, the Boscastle Harbour walk, the Porthcurno circular walk and the Rocky Valley walk all made the top 10 in Sun Bingo's research.

The list was put together by compiling a dataset of the best coastal paths in the UK from the National Trust.

After that, each walk was analysed based on its length in kilometres, terrain, elevation and the time it would take to finish it.

These factors were given a weighting out of 100 and each coastal path was ranked based on these factors, according to their difficulty level.

This was then converted into a final score, in which the higher the number, the ‘easier’ the path is to complete.

If you're fancying the idea of taking up coastal walking then here is the top 10 list.

Speaking about the Holywell beach walk which came in second overall, Sun Bingo wrote: "The Holywell beach walk in Cornwall, England is among the second shortest walks, and would take Brits on average 30 minutes, so it’s no wonder it earns the title of the second best walk for those looking for leisurely stroll with a score of 80.23 out of 100.

"With an easy terrain and elevation score and suitable for dogs, this makes for a great walk for all."

Meanwhile, for the Bocastle Harbour walk which came in third, they said it boats "an easy terrain" which is great for dogs and takes in the "scenic village".

Alongside those two the Porthcurno circular walk and the Rocky Valley walk were among a crop of trails earning a score that technically placed them joint-sixth.
