Just got a new job in London and now in the market for somewhere to live? Instead of moving into the city itself, a great option is one of these new Essex developments combining affordability and convenient commuting

The average price per square foot in London is about £863, compared to £314 in Essex. In Kensington and Chelsea, one of London's most expensive areas, £500,000 buys you approximately 26 m² (277 sq ft).

In Chelmsford, Essex, the same money would buy you 135 m² (1,453 sq ft). Homebuyers looking to spend this much on a new property could have almost three times more space on average for the same money.

So where in Essex should savvy property hunters wanting an easy commute look?
