Bristol Blue Glass has taken inspiration from the Northern Lights to create its new Aurora Collection

regular readers of this column will know we only feature the best that Somerset (and its honorary city of Bristol) has to offer.

Now in its 28th year, Bristol Blue Glass has garnered a great reputation for its stunning rather more-ish pieces, which is why we are so happy that they have produced a new range. They have redesigned and re-imagined the Aurora Collection, taking inspiration from the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). The lustrous pattern on the surface of the glass is silver created by adding silver oxide to the molten glass, which when heated, reacts with the oxygen hungry flame, leaving behind a spectacular display of iridescence.

Bristol Blue Glass was founded in 1988 by James Adlington, with the help of glass maker Peter St Clair. The aim was to re-establish a tradition that had been lost for over 60 years, the art of glass-making - and they have been a huge success. Alongside the Aurora collection, there is a growing range of stunning jewellery and memorial pieces which combine loved one’s ashes with pieces of glass handmade by skilled craftsmen in their Bristol studio so every one is completely unique.
