Cardboard packaging specialist GWP Packaging has invested £600K in updated equipment at its Wiltshire production facility.
The new flat-bed die cutter reflects an increase in demand for the company’s packaging products over the past 18 months.
The machine, manufactured by Bobst and supplied by GTS (Europe) and Vim Selection, is used to make standard cardboard packaging and Correx corrugated plastic.
James Pedley, Operations Manager at GWP Packaging said: “We’ve seen a great deal of growth in demand for our packaging, and die cut products in particular, so we needed to increase capacity in this area of our production. Correx is also a growing market for us, so having a machine that can process this material efficiently as well was a real bonus.
“Choosing this large capacity machine also means we are able to consolidate some of our existing equipment, helping to streamline our factory and improve efficiency.”
The outlay follows a similar £1m investment in printing and cutting equipment in 2015 and a waterjet foam cutter at its Salisbury site earlier this year, as well as the purchase of a fully automatic die cutter from local firm Loadpoint in 2012.

A recruitment drive is under way to bolster the 100-strong staff team as the company looks to invest in a new warehouse this autumn.
