A Medical Centre in Woodstock Road, currently in non-residential institution (D1) use but with potential to revert to residential (C3) use, has been put on the market by its owners.

The North Oxford Medical Centre at 96 Woodstock Road is a substantial late-Victorian, three storey, attractive and imposing detached property. With walled gardens and extensive off-road parking, the accommodation totals 3,270 sq ft and has been brought to the market by Carter Jonas with a guide price of £2.5 million.

The property currently has Class D1 use for non-residential institutions which is for the provision of any medical or health services.

However, as Mark Charter, head of Oxford at Carter Jonas who is handling the sale said: “It is rare for such a property in North Oxford to come to the market. With its current D1 use, it can also be used, although not limited to, as a crèche, day nursery, for the provision of education or the display of works of art, or even a public hall or museum, or in connection with public worship.”

Planning permission is being sought to convert the property back to residential use.

“We have applied on behalf of our clients for planning permission to convert the Medical Centre back to Class C3 which is for Dwelling Houses,” added Mark Charter. “The house is wonderfully located and would be superb as a family home. Such a property will suit either the institutional market who will use it as it is, or a family willing to restore the house to its former glory.”

The Medical Centre will close permanently on Friday 29 November 2013. Patients have been informed of the closure and encouraged to either follow those GPs who are going to alternative practices or register at a new GP practice.
