Richard Cole, former menswear director of The Famous (Cheltenham) Ltd, has launched The Famous 1886. The specialist menswear retail business continues the heritage of the shop owned by his family; a well loved High Street landmark since 1886.

Richard said: “I am very proud to be able to continue the heritage of my family and The Famous of Cheltenham and aim to continue the tradition of unrivalled service and great quality but with an added contemporary touch. I’ve personally selected all of my ranges from long-standing and trusted suppliers. It is my 15 years’ experience and the personal touch that I believe customers will appreciate.”

The Famous 1886 offers a full range of selected menswear online but with a personal service also offered from a shop located in Berkeley Mews, Cheltenham; just off the High Street, opposite the entrance to Sandford Park. Customers can visit to browse a selection of products and can be measured for both off the peg and made to measure tailoring.

Richard will also offer home or office visits so the customer can have The Famous 1886 come to them. Richard is passionate about delivering real choice and wardrobe essentials from trusted brands – names with history. The range includes many products made in Britain using British materials: including Hawick Knitwear from Scotland, socks from Leicestershire & Derbyshire, tailoring and tweeds by Magee from Ireland and Loake shoes from Northamptonshire.
