A former mill town might not be the first place that springs to mind when thinking of places to take photos in Lancashire, especially when the Ribble Valley is in such close proximity.
Burnley has a few surprises up its sleeve when it comes to beauty spots. Towneley Park is 440 acres and is a busy all week due to its proximity to the town centre, there is an abundance of birds and squirrels for the wildlife photographer, as well as pretty spots by the River Calder.
As Burnley is also on the route of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, there are also plenty of placxes to capture life on the Lancashire waterways.
Just outside the town is the Singing Ringing Tree, a sculpture that consists of a series of metal tubes of varying lengths arranged in such as way as to produce a melodic humming noise as the wind blows through them. This artwork might not be to everyone’s taste, but the views from this Pennine hill are spectacular.
