Few counties can match Lancashire for the variety of the views on offer, and that makes the county an ideal place for photographers. From green rolling hills to sandy beaches and from bustling city centres to unspoiled villages, there’s an endless source of inspiration for anyone with a camera – and these days that’s all of us. With cameras on tablets and mobile phones always with us, it’s easier than ever for us all to take great pictures.

The examples on these pages are just some of the many wonderful images taken by Lancashire Life readers in recent weeks and entered in our super annual competition.

You have until Friday September 19 to get your entry in and our judges will be choosing a top three who will win brilliant prizes selected by competition sponsors Wilkinson’s Cameras.

The first prize winner will recieve a Canon EOS 100D and EF-S 18-55 IS STM worth £479.99, second prize is a Canon Powershot S120 worth £399.99 and if your picture comes in third place you will win a Canon Powershot SX 510 worth £219.99 (all prices correct as of March 2014).

There are just two rules – the competition is not open to professional photographers and pictures must be taken in LancashireThe Lake District.

Lancashire Life editor Roger Borrell said: ‘Judging the annual photographic competition is always a highlight of my year, although it does seem to get harder each time. The standard is always very high and already this year I’ve spotted a couple which could well be in with a chance of winning a prize.

‘But there’s a long way to go yet and now the weather is warming up I’m sure plenty more people will be out and about with their cameras so I expect lots more brilliant pictures will be uploaded to our website.’

Roger will be joined on the judging panel by picture editor John Cocks and David Parkinson from Wilkinson’s Cameras.
