We reveal the winners of our photography competition sponsored by Wilkinson Cameras
For the fourth year running, judges have selected a shot of the Lake District as the winner of our annual readers’ photography competition which is sponsored by Wilkinson Cameras.
The beautiful image of Derwent Water on the previous page was taken by Ruth Burgess from Penwortham who started taking photographs six years ago when her daughter was born.
‘I was just taking family shots and candid pictures of my daughter and friends’ children and then a couple of years ago I went on a landscape photography workshop in the Lake District.
‘We go walking in the Lakes quite a lot and I take my camera and tripod with me and take pictures while my husband and daughter are waiting and asking “how long is this going to take?”’
Her winning shot was taken early in the morning after an overnight stay.
‘We were hoping for a spectacular sunrise but there was a lot of cloud cover,’ she added. ‘The breeze picked up and the cloud lifted. I was pleased with the shot straight away – I’ve had it printed on canvas and it’s on my wall at home.’
