Avid readers and headline authors helped make the third Harrogate History Festival, hosted by the arts charity Harrogate International Festivals, a resounding success.

Special guests, included authors Tracy Borman, Lord Melvyn Bragg, Ken Follett, Michael Morpurgo, Kate Mosse, Neil Oliver and the Princess Michael of Kent.

Programming chair, Manda Scott, said: ‘As outgoing chair, I couldn’t have asked for a better swan song than this year’s festival. The atmosphere was alive in ways we could only have dreamed of, and every single panel and guest created that precious buzz of interest and imagination that is the heart of a successful festival. ’

Dates for 2016 have already been confirmed and the event will be taking place next year in Harrogate from October 20th-23rd.

The programming chair will be the York-based author Edwin Thomas, who writes historical adventure books under the pen name Tom Harper. w
