More than £40,000 was raised during the third Smile with the Stars Ball in memory of Lee Johnson, who died from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy).

The money will help fund intracranial EEG equipment used for evaluating a person for epilepsy surgery at Leeds General Infirmary.

Over 400 guests attended the ball at Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road. The Lee’s Smile charity, set up by Lee’s parents Simon and Vicky and his sister Becky, has now raised £300,000 in Lee’s memory to support research into epilepsy. The charity has funded state of the art video telemetry equipment which was installed in the Lee Johnson Suite at the LGI in September 2015, as well as supporting Epilepsy Research and SUDEP Action.
