Many tourists venture out from here on a short walk to the impressive ruins of the Cistercian monastery at Riveaulx or join the Cleveland Way which arches its way through the edge of the North York Moors to the Yorkshire Coast. If you would prefer to go directly to the beach, Whitby is less than an hour away by car.
To the south, Ampleforth is another popular destination due to the Benedictine monastery which is famous for its beautiful grounds that attracts many tourists for the orchard and cider mill tour.

Low Season is November, December, January and February (excluding Christmas & New Year)
Mid Season is March, April, May and June and then September and October
High Season is July, August, Christmas, New Year and other holidays across the year.
