The Mount School produces a very special kind of girl; mature, quietly confident to be herself, to think independently, live adventurously and to be socially considerate.

The day and boarding school takes girls from ages two-18 years and boys are welcome from ages two - seven years, with boarding available from age 11. Enjoying an outstanding academic reputation for sciences, maths, music, art, the performing arts and languages, The Mount is the UK’s sole girls-only Quaker school, and welcomes all faiths and backgrounds. Parents who hope their daughters might come to The Mount need to get in touch with our Registrar as soon as possible. Boarding places are almost full and a waiting list has started for day students in the Sixth Form. The only way to ensure your daughter can ebenefit from an education at The Mount in our College years is for her to join the School much earlier on.

The Mount’s curriculum instils our girls with critical consciousness and the ability to think in a global context. Last year The Mount became the first school in England to introduce the work of the PeaceJam Foundation. In 2012, girls from The Mount won the Yorkshire Courtroom Advocacy Competition and qualified for the national finals of Rotary Youth Speaks, the public speaking competition. In 2013 The Mount again qualified for Rotary Youth Speaks East of England Finals, became regional finalists of Debating Matters and gave an outstanding performance at the XXIII Bath International Schools’ Model United Nations Conference, galvanising the Quaker all-girls’ school’s reputation for outstanding public speaking skills. Being in an all-girls school, our students enjoy a level of confidence and an ability to express their personalities in a way which is unfeasible in a co-educational environment. That confidence comes out in the girls’ talents at public speaking.
