August 1st is Yorkshire Day. In celebration we’re looking back at some of the people, places and events who’ve made our Yorkshire Life in the past year.

September 2018

A giant steel lobster by sculptor Emma Stodhard found its way to the Yorkshire coast to star in the spectacle that is Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage, an event that celebrates the village's long affinity with artists.

October 2018

Fuelled with Yorkshire grit, Men of Oar took on the Talisker Challenge to row the Atlantic. The team made up of William Theakston, Robin Drysdale, Sam Bolt-Laurence and David Laurence finished the 3,000-mile race in 47 days, 6 hours and 37 minutes.

November 2018

Culinary gongs for Yorkshire's finest food folk in the Yorshire Life Food and Drink Awards. Neil Bentinck from SKOSH, York named Chef of the Year and Joro, Sheffield, named Restaurant of the Year.

December 2018

We went behind the scenes for a 1920s Christmas at one of Yorkshire's most stunning stately homes, Harewood House.

January 2019

Start the year with cake we say! We shared tea with Lesley Wild from the founding family of that Yorkshire tea room and treats institution, Bettys, as the company marked its Centenary year.

February 2019

The wonder of wool - time to say thanks to Yorkshire's bountiful flocks of sheep which created the raw materials for designer Ella Doran's Yorkshire Sculpture Park exhibition Sheep to Seat, Fleece to Floor.

March 2019

Barnsley-born author Joanne Harris unveiled a new novel and talled about the inspiration that comes from the landscape around her Huddersfield home - with its writing shed in the garden.

April 2019

Richmond-based artist Mackenzie Thorpe is known for his bright and beautiful paintings. He talked about the inspiration behind his specially commissioned works for Tour de Yorkshire.

May 2019

He cycle-fest that is Tour de Yorkshire hit the streets, valleys and lanes of Yorkshire, showcasing the best of the county to a global audience of hardcore cyclists and cheering enthusiasts.

June 2019

Chef Sabrina Ghayour moves to Yorkshire - and joins us at Yorkshire Life to share her love for her new country home - and the food riches of the land.
