Open Farm Sunday is set to bring crowds of thousands flocking to the countryside as farmers fling open their gates across East Anglia.
Now in its 20th anniversary year, the event on June 7 is a nationwide celebration organised by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), connecting the public with how their food is produced and showing sustainable farming in action. Events in Norfolk and north Suffolk include:
SUNDAY MAY 31
- Deepdale Farm, Main Road, Burnham Deepdale, PE31 8DD: Free open day on Sunday May 31, the final weekend of the half-term holiday. 10am–3pm. Explore a nature-friendly, regenerative, organic arable farm on the coast including guided walks, a nature trail quiz, working pony demonstrations, machinery on show, owl pellet dissection and Norfolk Wild Venison burgers and sausages to buy. SUNDAY JUNE 7
- RW Perowne, High House Farm & Cobble Hill Vineyard, Docking, PE31 8PD: Two bookable sessions, 11am–1pm and 2pm–4pm. Free vineyard tours covering English viticulture, a short drive to the winery for a winemaking masterclass, followed by tastings with light bites and a history of the farm by owner Robert Perowne. - Carrick Enterprises, Castle Farm, Swanton Morley, NR20 4JT: 10am–4pm. A 450‑acre arable, beef and hospitality business, featuring pedigree Lincoln Red cattle grazing on the floodplains of the River Wensum. Free entry, with tractor and trailer rides, butchery demonstrations, children’s games and competitions, and rural services stalls including drone and precision farming displays, plus a bar and refreshments. - Crown Point Estate, Warners Park (field opposite Whitlingham Country Park), Trowse, NR14 8TR: 10am–4pm. A free, family‑friendly day in beautiful countryside exploring arable crops, farm animals and environmental stewardship, with machinery displays, tractor rides, guided farm tours, fun children’s activities and local food and drink stalls. No booking required; parking £3 per car, with profits donated to local charities.
- Old Hall Farm, Norwich Road, Woodton, near Bungay, NR35 2LP: Car park open from 9am, £7.50 per car, no extra entry fee. A 500‑acre mixed farm with dairy, rare breeds, farm shop, cafe, and a vineyard. Milking demo with Q&A at 9.30am, plus machinery and vehicle displays, guided farm walks, local makers’ market, local food and drink, and a chance to meet sheep, cows, goats, pigs, horses and donkeys.
- Darrow Green Farm, Darrow Green Road, Denton, Harleston, IP20 0AY: 10am–4pm. Visitors can meet Suffolk Punch horses, Norfolk Horn and Grey‑faced Dartmoor sheep, Bagot goats, miniature donkeys and rare‑breed poultry, enjoy BBC Radio Norfolk gardeners’ question time 11am-1pm, pond‑dipping and bird‑ringing, plus refreshments or bring a picnic.

- Euston Estate, Euston, near Thetford, IP24 2QH – Open Farm Weekend on June 6 and 7, 10am–4pm both days. Mixed estate showcasing cereals, livestock, potatoes, vegetables, energy crops and flowers. Includes tractor and trailer rides to see machinery and animals, and a special church flower festival marking the 350th anniversary of St Genevieve's Church. Sheepdog trials will take place on Saturday June 6, alongside a Massey Ferguson tractor run featuring around 200 tractors.
