A new art trail and competition inspired by John Constable is bringing creative fun to Ipswich town centre.

Launched by Ipswich Central in partnership with Harvest Moon café on St Peter’s Street, the free activity is part of the Constable 250 celebrations and invites children to explore the area, collect stickers, and create their own Constable-inspired landscape drawings.

Melanie Willis, communications manager at Ipswich Central, said: "When Flynn at Harvest Moon came to us with the idea for a trail around local businesses for families with young children, inspired by Constable, we thought this was a lovely family activity to support in the town centre."

The sticker hunt and art trail takes families through St Peter’s Street and St Nicholas’ Street, where six businesses have art-themed stickers behind the counter.

Children who collect all six stickers can return their completed trail sheets to Harvest Moon to receive a free Constable 250 badge, kindly donated by the Ipswich Museums team at Christchurch Mansion.

The drawing competition is open to children until October 4, the day Constable’s The Hay Wain departs Christchurch Mansion for London.

Entry sheets can be picked up from five locations: Harvest Moon, Ipswich County Library, The Hold – Suffolk Archives, Bishops Café and Tea Rooms, and Christchurch Mansion.

Flynn Squirrell, owner and manager at Harvest Moon, said: "It’s been great working with Ipswich Central to bring The Saints sticker hunt and art trail idea to life as a free community activity for parents with young children."

Entries will be collected on October 5 and judged by an independent panel, with three winners, one from each age group, receiving art-themed goodie bags.

The winning artworks will also be displayed inside Harvest Moon during half-term week in late October.
