Some of the world's best cyclists will take in Yorkshire scenery this week as the Tour of Britain Men lands in the county.

Stage three, on September 4, starts in Hull and finishes in Beverley, with stage four, on September 5, starting in Helmsley and finishing in Leyburn.

It follows stage one starting and finishing in Lincoln on Wednesday, and stage two's route from Boston to Skegness on Thursday.

'Yorkshire and East Riding hosts stages three and four,' says British Cycling.

'Day three on Friday, September 4, will see a 194.1km race to the finish in Beverley from the start in Hull.

'The riders will head down the east coast, before traversing into a series of climbs in Burton Agnes. Once they reach Beverley, the peloton will face a 16km circuit with four passages.  

'Families are encouraged to come down to East Park in Hull on Friday between 11am and 2pm and enjoy the Family Cycling Festival, with the Tour village opening from 9am.

'The festival gives people of all ages and abilities, including families, the chance to enjoy cycling-themed activities on the day and the opportunity to ride in a safe, fun traffic-free environment, all free of charge. 

'Stage four on Saturday, September 5, begins in Helmsley, where riders will power through 165.8km and 2,699m of ascent of the North Yorkshire countryside. The peloton will head towards a thrilling conclusion in Leyburn.'

Stage three - Hull to Beverley

Starting in Hull’s East Park, the riders will head to the East Yorkshire coast before turning inland through the Yorkshire Wolds.

The stage concludes with four passages of a 16km finishing circuit in Beverley and a testing uphill drag to the finish at Beverley Racecourse.

Stage four - Helmsley to Leyburn

This stage showcases some of Yorkshire’s most spectacular cycling country, beginning in Helmsley before heading through the Howardian Hills and Vale of York and into the Yorkshire Dales.

Along the way, the riders will tackle famous roads including Greenhow Hill and Cray before racing through Wensleydale and Swaledale ahead of the finish in Leyburn.
