A new art exhibition celebrating the untamed beauty of Yorkshire is opening in the heart of York.

Yorkshire’s Wild Side: Nature in Art will run from September 2 to October 4, 2026, at Stephenson’s Gallery in Clifford Street, and will showcase original paintings and sculptures that capture the region’s dramatic scenery and rich wildlife.

The exhibition features work by both established and emerging artists, depicting scenes from the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, and the county’s rugged coastline, alongside detailed studies of the animals that inhabit these landscapes.

Mark Stephenson, co-founder of the gallery, said: "Yorkshire’s terrain and native wildlife possess an extraordinary energy that continues to inspire remarkable art.

"This show brings together atmospheric oil landscapes, fine sculpture, and delicate pastel wildlife studies, giving collectors a comprehensive celebration of our home county’s wild character."

The exhibition includes pieces by David Allen RSMA, Richard Clare, Catherine Inglis SWA, Myles Linley, Vicky Palmer, Maggie Robinson SWA MAFA, Steve Whitehead, and Kirsty Whyatt.

All artworks will be available for sale.

Stephenson’s Gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sundays from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
