A traditional Derbyshire get-together, the Hartington Wakes Sports & Country Show celebrated its 122nd year this autumn. It was held at ‘Hall Bank’, on the outskirts of the picturesque village, by kind permission of Mr Richard Sherratt.

There was certainly something to entertain everyone from bouncy castle, children's fun fair and donkey rides to the Famous Red Barrows, 'Have a Go' archery and a Grand Parade. Livestock and all things equestrian, lurcher and terrier racing, stalls and lots of local produce, including an impressive indoor market, also added to the occasion, which came at the end of the village's annual Well Dressing week. The Poppy Queen Parade had taken place the day before. u
