The installation of Elizabeth Jane Fothergill CBE DL as the High Sheriff of Derbyshire took place at St Michael’s Church in the village of Shirley, near Ashbourne, on Thursday 7th April. Following an introduction by Andrew Cochrane, Under-Sheriff of Derbyshire, Mrs Fothergill took the oath of office before His Honour Judge John Burgess and Mr Tim Court JP, Chair of the Southern Derbyshire bench. Thanks were given to the previous High Sheriff, Mr Oliver Stephenson and his wife Fiona who had performed the role so excellently. Other special guests included Lord Lieutenant Mr Willie Tucker and Mrs Jill Tucker, the Reverend Paul Taylor, who is the High Sheriff’s chaplain for her year of office, and the High Sheriff’s cadet Sgt Lewis Keenan. Previous High Sheriff Derek Mapp with his wife Karen and High Sheriffs in nomination Annie Hall and Lucy Palmer were also in attendance.

Delecious canapés had been prepared by YMCA Derbyshire’s catering and hospitality learner members, and following the service guests, friends and family adjourned to the Saracen’s Head to celebrate.
