Fifty-five girls from around the country descended on Repton School at the end of the summer for the first all-girls Lord’s Taverners Wicketz Festival – three days of celebration, education and cricket.

In addition to numerous cricket-based competitions, the girls had the chance to take part in team building exercises delivered by the Royal Navy as well as other activities to help them gain confidence and learn more about themselves.

In 2018, the Wicketz project saw a five-fold increase of girls regularly attending cricket sessions run by the Lord's Taverners. It specifically targets young people primarily between the ages of 8-19 who are living in areas of deprivation with limited access to sporting opportunities and the benefits sport can bring.
