Choir composing is in full swing across the UK as composers work to produce what they hope will be the winning piece for Cornwall’s next International Male Voice Choral Festival.

Open to all contenders living in the UK, the aim is to encourage their talent to produce original works for male choirs of any age and background. The winner will receive a £1000 prize, announced in June 2014, and their musical work will be launched at the festival in May 2015.

The hotly contested Composers’ Competition is open to all contenders living and resident in the UK and the aim is to encourage their talent to produce original works for male choirs of any age or background.

The closing date for entries is March 28 2014, (for details see cimvcf.org.uk/2014composers.html ), with the winner of the £1000 prize announced in June 2014 and their musical work launched at the Festival in May 2015.

“The quality of the entries has always been incredibly high and we can’t wait to hear what the next generation of festival music will sound like.” says event Director Peter Davies.

The Directors and more than 300 volunteers aim for the 7th biennial Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival in May 2015 to be as spectacular as this year’s cultural success –60 choirs, sang in 50 concerts, in more than 40 venues across the county from St Michael’s Mount and the Minnack Theatre to the biomes of the Eden Project.
