Join Cheshire Life’s History columnist James Balme as he visits the hills above Rostherne

High on a hill high above Rostherne Mere in Cheshire stands the archaic site of St Mary’s Church. In a deed dated 1188 AD the site and indeed a religious building is mentioned. Whilst the church that stands today has been added to over time we know for a fact that a steeple was originally constructed in 1533 only to come crashing down in November 1741 causing great damage to the original building.

Join James as he takes a ‘history walk’ around this site to explore what details remain to this day.
