A festival of living history is set to bring the past to life this summer.

Taking place at Arundel Castle from August 29 to 31, the Festival of History promises three days of immersive experiences, including battle re-enactments, interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Spanning more than 12,000 years of history, the event will explore prehistoric Britain through to the 20th century.

Andrew Lewis, castle manager at Arundel Castle, said: "The Festival of History offers an incredible opportunity to experience the past in a truly immersive way.

"Whether you're watching knights clash on the battlefield, exploring authentic living history camps or trying your hand at traditional skills, there's something to capture the imagination of every visitor.

"We are delighted to welcome visitors back for another unforgettable August Bank Holiday celebration."

Expert re-enactors will bring historic periods to life, including Saxon tribes, Roman gladiators, Norman knights and medieval falconers.

Visitors will also be able to observe craftspeople demonstrating blacksmithing, weaving, leatherworking and historic cookery.

The programme includes combat displays, medieval artillery, archery and firearms demonstrations, and falconry shows.

Visitors can take part in axe throwing, archery and crossbow shooting, along with craft workshops.

Children can get involved through the popular kids' battles.

The castle grounds will also feature musical entertainment and will conclude each day with a history parade and the Grand Melee, where re-enactors compete in a dramatic contest.

Food and drink options will be available throughout the castle grounds, including The Knights' Table, the castle café, coffee shop and tea terrace, serving everything from medieval-inspired meals to lighter refreshments.

Visitors are also welcome to bring picnics.

Tickets start from £29 for adults, £13 for children and £71 for families, with under-fives admitted free.

Tickets include access to the castle, grounds, gardens and have-a-go activities during the event.
