A giant sandcastle building competition is set to take place later this month as part of an event organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and St Ives architect firm PBWC.

A giant sandcastle building competition is set to take place later this month as part of an event organized by the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) and St Ives’ own Poynton Bradbury Wynter Cole (PBWC) Architects. As well as an ‘Architects Build’ competition in which architects will showcase their creativity and skill, a ‘Big Build’ sandcastle building competition will also take place on Porthminster Beach in St Ives on Saturday 29 June from noon to 4pm. The event has the support of the St Ives Town Council, the St Ives Tourism Authority, numerous businesses and organisations around the town are working hard to ensure that this is a fun and successful family day out. Amazing prizes will be presented to the winners by the mayor and these include free entry to family activities, meals, kite surfing lessons, hampers and even a chocolate sandcastle.

Other activities on the beach include Tate St Ives puppet making and JB Adventures kite making as well as storytelling. So grab a bucket and spade and come and join the fun!
