Landmark Hotel Enjoys Hugely Successful Reopening
The Strand Hotel in Bude, Cornwall, re-opened following previews on Friday 17th June 2011 following a complete refurbishment programme.
Local business people were given a preview of the hotel on Friday 17th June where they were treated to guided tours to view the hotel facilities. The new General Manager, Gwyn Gibbons welcomed guests who enjoyed a glass of Bucks Fizz, canap�s and were treated to a cookery demonstration form the Chef, Francisco Eduardo Parodi- Candea in the new Brasserie restaurant.
The visitors were also given the opportunity to sign up to membership of the ‘Club at the Strand’, an exclusive member’s sun terrace and lounge area. Also on the night �436 was raised to benefit The Friends of Bude Sea Pool.
On Saturday 18th June, Mr Laurrie Burrows the original owner of the hotel, who is now 92, was chauffeured to the hotel where he performed the grand opening ceremony cutting the ribbon with Mr Shaun Kelly the proud new proprietor. The Mayor of Bude led invited local dignitaries as they toured the hotel and enjoyed refreshments, freshly prepared food and live music into the evening
The weekend launch was judged a tremendous success and Mr Kelly is confident that his investment will not only be a successful venture in its own right, but that the increased visitor numbers it will bring will support a variety of other businesses in the town.
