Q: How can you bring character to new build properties?

New properties are the perfect blank canvas for any interior design project, but this can often make it difficult for owners to add their own style.

Making an empty home your own can feel like a mammoth task. Seeking inspiration from an interior designer like myself, who will help you plan how each room will be used and will work with the space, can make it easier.

Panelling the walls is a great way to add depth and completely transform a room. If you’re moving in old furniture, you can even upcycle some pieces to save money, but also create a colourful focal point for a room and give it some personality.

Q: Are there any design trends you are following this year?

I love the Scandinavian trend – it really lends itself to new builds and open-plan spaces. It features cosy, soft furnishings and touches on styles found in Bali, such as wicker accessories.

Although I do admire certain trends, my advice is not to set your mind on following them. Trends come and go; you should design your home in a certain way because you like it, not because it’s fashionable.

Q: How can your interior design service help?

If you’re stuck for inspiration for your new home or current property, an interior design service can help you envisage the potential of your interior, and perhaps see it in a fresh light.

An interior designer can offer a different perspective and give you the courage and inspiration to breathe new life into your home.

Q: What can Melza Interior Design offer?

I offer a range of home design packages, but my ‘Digital Moodboard’ package, created in light of the lockdown, has been particularly popular. For those who are still worried about people entering their homes, I’m able to create a digital mood board and provide interior inspiration online. This also gives customers a little more control over the project and can be a good first step for those new to interior design.

I can help you transform just a room, or your whole house – whether that be a new-build or an old, character property - and I’m also available for commercial interior design projects.

I have always been interested in interior design, and after gaining a degree in textile design, and working on various interior projects, my passion only grew. My design style is very tactile and I love working with fabrics.
